3.IP Enclosure Ratings
IP protection grade classifies electrical appliances according to their dustproof and moisture-proof characteristics. IP protection level is composed of two numbers. the first number indicates the ability level of electrical appliances to prevent foreign objects from invading, and the second number indicates the sealing degree of electrical appliances against moisture and water intrusion. the larger the two marked numbers, the higher the protection level. see the following table for the protection level indicated by the two marked numbers.
Generally, the protection levels for communication products are IP 57 (dustproof and not affected when immersed in water for a short time), IP 65 (dustproof and not affected when immersed in water for a short time) and IP 67 (dustproof and not affected when immersed in water for a short time). Whether to adopt IP 65 or IP 67 is decided by practical application and different test standards. IP 67 is not always better than IP 65. Components that meet the IP 67 standard do not necessarily meet the IP 65 standard.
IP(INTERNATIONAL PROTECTION) protection grade and waterproof test standard are international protection and waterproof test standards drafted by iec (international electrotechnical commission).

Second, the connotation of IP protection level
(1) The first number: the level of anti-solid substances
1—— Protect solid foreign objects with diameter of 50mm and larger. Protect objects with large surface area such as hands (do not protect against deliberate intrusion);
2-Protect solid foreign objects with diameter of 12mm and larger. Protect fingers or other objects with a length not exceeding 80mm;
3-Protect solid foreign objects with a diameter of 2.5mm and larger. Protect tools and metal wires with diameter or thickness exceeding 2.5mm;
4-Protect solid foreign objects with a diameter of 1.0mm and larger. Protect metal wires or strips with thickness greater than 1.0mm;
5-Protect against dust. It is impossible to completely prevent dust from entering, but the amount of dust entering will not affect the normal operation of the equipment;
6-Dust-tight. No dust enters.
(2) The second number: the level of anti-liquid substances
1-protect water droplets (vertically falling water droplets);
2—— Protect the water drops when the equipment is inclined at 15 degrees. Vertical drops of water should not cause damage;
3-Protect spilled water. Water splashed from both sides of the vertical line at an angle of 60 degrees should not cause damage;
4-Protective water spray. When the equipment inclines to the normal position by 15 degrees, the water aiming at the equipment from any direction should not cause damage;
5-Protect against water injection. Water jet aiming at equipment from any direction should not cause damage;
6-Protect against big waves. The amount of water entering the equipment by big waves or strong jets should not cause damage;
7—— Protect from flooding. When immersed in water under defined pressure and time, there should be no water intrusion that can cause damage;
8-protection from flooding. The equipment can be immersed in water for a long time under the conditions specified by the manufacturer.
